چکیده

We characterize monomorphisms in rLLoc, the category of regular Lindelöf locales. Though somewhat complicated, the characterization is intrinsic in the sense that it refers only to the properties of the morphism itself, rather than to properties of some lifting of it to a distant category. Monomorphisms in rLLoc cannot be said to be well understood, despite their characterizations in [2] and [7]. The problem with these characterizations is that, although in each case the condition is simple enough (injectivity of a functorially associated spatial map in the case of [2], and surjectivity of a functorially associated frame map in the case of [7]), it is applied in a category su¢ ciently remote from rLLoc to make veri…cation troublesome. On the other hand, there are two categories closely related to rLLoc in which (the morphisms corresponding to) monomorphisms are well understood. Epimorphisms inW, the category of archimedean lattice-ordered groups with weak order unit, have a rich theory, and W is related to Loc, the category of locales with locale maps, by the contravariant adjunction

A note on semi-regular locales

Semi-regular locales are extensions of the classical semiregular spaces. We investigate the conditions such that semi-regularization is a functor. We also investigate the conditions such that semi-regularization is a reflection or coreflection.

Monoreflections of archimedean -groups, regular σ-frames and regular Lindelöf frames

We prove that in the category of achimedean lattice-ordered groups with weak unit there is no homomorphism-closed monoreflection strictly between the strongest essential monoreflection (the so-called “closure under countable composition”) and the strongest monoreflection (the epicompletion). It follows that in the category of regular σframes, the only non-trivial monoreflective subcategory that...

Categorical properties of regular partially ordered pure monomorphisms

Let   a family of monomorphisms in the category A ‎To study mathematical notions in a category  A‎, ‎such as injectivity‎, ‎tensor products‎, ‎flatness‎, ‎with respect to a class M of its (mono)morphisms‎, ‎one should know some of the categorical properties of the pair (A ‎,M ‎)‎. ‎In this paper we take A to be the‎‎category  Pos-S  of S-partially ordered sets  and   to be a particular‎ class o...

Bourn-normal Monomorphisms in Regular Mal’tsev Categories

Normal monomorphisms in the sense of Bourn describe the equivalence classes of an internal equivalence relation. Although the definition is given in the fairly general setting of a category with finite limits, later investigations on this subject often focus on protomodular settings, where normality becomes a property. This paper clarifies the connections between internal equivalence relations ...

$\sigma$-locales and Booleanization in Formal Topology

A σ-frame is a poset with countable joins and finite meets in which binary meets distribute over countable joins. Aim of this paper is to present σ-frames, actually σ-locales, as a branch of Formal Topology, that is, intuitionistic and predicative pointfree topology. We show that every σframe L can be presented as the lattice of Lindelöf elements (those whose covers admit countable subcovers) o...
